About Your Trainer
Based in Palo Alto, commercial photographer, Tom Upton has been photographing since a Science field trip in the sixth grade. Tom was classically trained in photography at Art Center College of Design, and earned a BFA in the 70's. He assisted numerous Hollywood photographers before seeking cultural asylum in the S.F. Bay Area in 1982. During his career Tom has worked with many well-known high-tech companies and installed two digital photography studios for clients in the prepress and printing industry. Even won a few awards here and there. He has assiduously avoided fame and fortune to remain pure and true to the craft. br> Though an avid adopter of technology Tom brings a practical philosophy of photographic principals to his PhotoTrainer pulpit of punditry. Tom and his wife, Catherine Lush, have created PhotoTrainer as a way for civilians to understand their DSLR cameras and enjoy the wealth of technology crammed into them.
